Ryan Cassidy enters his first season as an Assistant Swim Coach for Bryn Mawr College. He is a USA Swimming certified coach and a member of the American Swim Coaches Association.
In addition to his coaching responsibilities at Bryn Mawr, Ryan also coaches age group swimmers as a member of the coaching staff of Friends’ Central Aquatics, a local USA Swimming club team. Ryan also has three years of experience working with Special Olympics athletes, serving as a volunteer assistant coach for the Utica AquaStars Special Olympics team.
Born in nearby Merion Station, PA, Ryan graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Hamilton College, where he double-majored in Theatre and Philosophy. Ryan swam all four years at Hamilton, and
captained the Swimming and Diving team his senior year. He qualified for finals in every individual event in which he competed at the NESCAC championships, and a achieved an NCAA “B” cut in the 1650 yard Freestyle. Ryan was also a member of Hamilton’s Rowing team his senior year. As a part of Hamilton’s men’s Four, he reached the Grand Final of the National Invitational Rowing Championships.
Ryan has swum competitively since the age of eight as a part of the Friends’ Central Aquatics and Friends’ Central School swim teams. Ryan still holds numerous FCA records, and served as captain of the FCS varsity team during his senior year of High School.
In addition to his work as a coach, Ryan works as a professional actor in the Greater Philadelphia area, appearing in productions in Philadelphia, Montgomery and Chester counties, and in Southern New Jersey.
