Swimming Puts On Strong Showing Against Conference Rivals

BRYN MAWR, Pa. - The Owls swim team took to the pool for their first home meet of the season earlier Friday night. Bryn Mawr welcomed Franklin & Marshall and Swarthmore to campus for a Centennial Conference multi-team meet, and there were plenty of strong showings on the night for the Owls.

Emmy Wisz claimed a fourth-place finish in the 200 fly, swimming a time of 2:20.32. Becca Adlai-Gail also competed in the event, posting a time of 2:27.16.

In the 50 free, Ryan Griffin swam Bryn Mawr's fastest time of the season in the event, a 26.84. Madelyn Schwimmer (28.01), Hannah Nye (29.37), and Clara Costello (29.56) also competed in the event for the Owls. Schwimmer (1:00.96) finished just behind Kelly Peterson (1:00.43) in the 100 freestyle to post a new season best in that event. Griffin (1:01.53, season best) and Lauren Birmingham (1:03.75) also swam the event.

Becca Adlai-Gail took sixth in the 500 freestyle, posting a season-best time of 5:39.77

Faith Meacham and Anna Danesh each posted season bests in the 200 backstroke with times of 2:29.45 and 2:31.69.

Hannah Soisson took fifth place in the 100 breaststroke, shaving several tenths off of her time from last week at Gettysburg. She was joined in the event by Varuna Jasodanand (1:16.09, season best), Lucy Bruemmer (1:17.95, season best), and Maggie Hernan (1:21.18). Soisson would go on to take seventh in the 200 breaststroke, while Hannah Nye also raced in the event.

In the 100 backstroke, Anna Danesh shaved almost two seconds off of her previous time at Gettysburg earlier this season. Faith Meacham (1:12.77) and Ruth Mullin (1:19.60) also posted season-bests in the event.

Bryn Mawr opened the night by posting a season-best in the 200 medley relay. The quartet of Maya Schneider, Hannah Soisson, Emmy Wisz, and Madelyn Schwimmer combined to swim a 2:00.19 in the event, topping their previous time at Gettysburg by .40 of a second.

Kelly Peterson swam the first 1000 yard freestyle of her career, posting a time of 12:02 in the grueling event. Maya Schneider followed that up by swimming Bryn Mawr's fastest 200 free of the season, a 2:11.06.

Another of the Owls' season bests on the night came in the 100 fly, as Lucy Bruemmer swam a 1:05.35 in that event.

Bryn Mawr will be right back in action tomorrow afternoon, as the Owls will host Immaculata and Cedar Crest for another multi-team meet. Events will get underway at 1:00 PM in the Schwartz natatorium.
