Owls Give Temple a Fight in Saturday Match

Blossom Jeong and Cindy Chen play for the badminton team in the 2017-18 season

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Bryn Mawr badminton team was back in action for the first time in the 2019 calendar year earlier Saturday, as the Owls took on Temple University on the road. There were plenty of strong performances on the day for Bryn Mawr, including a big win from Maham Haider and Ruby Pritchett.

In singles, team captain Koko Zhang suffered defeat against Temple's Allison Yu, with the score of 5-21 in the first set and 12-21 in the second set. Sophomore Meagan Kearney made a great comeback against Temple's Lisa Dam in the second set, but fell in the final moments with the scores of 15-21, 21-16, and 8-21.

In doubles, team captain Cindy Chen and junior Blossom Jeong took tough loss with the scores of 9-21 and 16-21. Senior Maham Haider and sophomore Ruby Pritchett secured the Owls' sole win of the day with impressive performance, with the scores of 21-12 and 21-13. Juniors Shuning Wang and Jennifer Seo showcased their effort against Temple, but lost with the scores of 18-21 and 11-21.
