Bryn Mawr Cross Country Takes Sixth Place At Centennial Conference Championships

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Bryn Mawr cross country team posted great results including multiple PR's at the Centennial Conference Championship race earlier Saturday afternoon. Although this years event was hosted at Gettysburg College, an unknown course to the Owls the team was still able to land a sixth place finish overall and beat out Centennial Conference Preseason poll expectations. Kate Edwards led the team to the sixth-place finish in the championship by taking 17th individually.

Senior Kate Edwards crossed the line in 23:16.1 finishing just seconds behind runners from John Hopkins, and Swarthmore College. Additionally the senior runner was able to beat out 83 other runners in the pack. Chelsea Thangavelu was the next to clock in a time for the Owls finishing at 24:20.9 and 38th overall, good for a top 40th place finish overall. 

Anna Kyle, Emily George and Grace Cain rounded out the top five performances for the Owls while all landing new PR's. Anna Kyle's new personal record of 24:46.2 was was good for a 45th place finish. Emily George crossed the line at 25:47.4 and landed a 56th place finish. The 70th place finisher, Grace Cain was not far behind the two with her time of 26:03.0.

Campbell Powell and Emily Haller finished 6th and 7th for the Owls respectively. Emily Haller's time of 27:45.2 was a new personal record for the runner and landed her a 86th place finish overall. 

Shannon Fisher was another Owl to land a PR in the championship race. The sophomore runner finished 8th for the Owls with a time of 28:41.2. Hannah Kim and Lizzie Robinson rounded out the top-ten performances for the Owls finishing in 9th and 10th respectively. Both clocked in season best, first Hannah Kim with a time of 29:45.1 and shortly after was Robinson with a time of  30:08.06.

Bryn Mawr will now look to compete in its annual Alumnae Race next weekend, and long term set its sights on the NCAA Mideast Regional Championship which will be hosted at the Big Spring High School.
