NORTHAMPTON, Ma. - The Bryn Mawr cross country team was in action at the Seven Sisters Championship on Saturday, hosted by Smith College. The Owls scored a total of 153 points to finish 6th overall beating out Mount Holyoke College. Leading the way for the Owls was senior Kate Edwards with a top 10 performance.
Edwards crossed the line with a time of 24:17 in the 6k event landing a 6th place finish overall, finishing just behind runners from Wellesley and Vassar College. Edwards was followed by a solid performance from sophomore Anna Kyle, who posted an overall time of 25:18 to take 23rd overall and second for the Owls. Freshman Emily George was next to clock in for the Owls, finishing 58th overall with a time of 27:11.
Racing to a 62nd-place finish was sophomore Grace Cain, who was the fourth-place finisher on the team with a time of 27:26. Close behind Cain was sophomore Campbell Powell, who placed 65th overall with a time of 27:34.
Rounding out the efforts for Bryn Mawr were juniors Haley Varnum, Emily Haller and freshman Nevada Powers. Varnum took 48th in her 6k season debut with a time of 28:41. The race of the day was from Emily Haller. The junior runner dropped 2 minutes and 45 seconds off her old PR, finishing in 83rd place overall and seventh for the Owls. Nevada Powers finished right in the pack with Varnum and Haller for a time of 28:45.
Bryn Mawr is off next weekend, but returns to action on Sunday, October 29th when it competes at the 2017 Centennial Conference Championship, hosted at Gettysburg College. Action will be underway at 11 AM.
