BRYN MAWR, Pa. - The Bryn Mawr volleyball team was back in action at home as the Owls kicked off their final week of the season with a match against Haverford. Bryn Mawr gave the Fords a good challenge through three sets, but ultimately it was the Fords who came away with the 3-0 win on the evening. Sydney Munnerlyn led the Owls with three kills on the night, while Jane Rand added six assists for Bryn Mawr.
Haverford got out to a quick start in the opening set of tonight's contest, as the Fords ran out to a 12-3 advantage early on. Munnerlyn posted a nice kill on a feed from Rand and the Owls used a Haverford error to stop the bleeding, but the Fords won eight of the next 10 points to take a 20-7 lead. Kills from Rand and Alanna Mora-Mickens weren't enough to bring Bryn Mawr back, and the Fords ultimately closed out a 25-9 win of the set.
Bryn Mawr started much faster in the second set, as an ace from Rand and kills from Munnerlyn and Sydney Collins staked the Owls to a 4-1 lead early. Unfortunately for Bryn Mawr, Haverford won the next 17 points in the set to take a commanding 18-4 advantage. Several errors from the Fords and another kill from Munnerlyn got Bryn Mawr back a few points, but Haverford was able to cruise away with a 25-10 win.
Despite the results so far, the Owls did not hang their heads, and instead once again took an early lead in the third set. Jess DeJoie threw down a pair of kills in the opening several points, and then Bryn Mawr tacked on with more errors from the Fords and a kill by Olivia Harkins-Finn. However, Haverford was able to steadily chip away at the deficit, ultimately turning a 7-3 advantage for the Owls into a 21-9 lead for the visitors. After the early run from Bryn Mawr, the only points the Owls would get in the set came on service errors, and Haverford ultimately closed out the match with another 25-10 win in the final set.
Bryn Mawr will close out their season this Saturday at home with a 1:00 PM matchup against Ursinus.
