Third Set Comeback Not Enough In Road Tri-Match

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Bryn Mawr Volleyball team was back in action on Saturday afternoon, as the Owls traveled to Carlisle  for a tri-match against Centennial Conference competitor Dickinson College and Lycoming College. The Owls fell to both squads in three sets however strong performances from freshman Nicole Wood and Jane Rand help the Owls endure the battle.  

In the opening match of the day against host, Dickinson College the Owls had a slow start. The Red Devils swiftly cruised to a two set lead (25-14, 24-10) over the Owls. However before Dickinson could get away completely the Owls regrouped and put together a solid third set which was highlighted by kills from Jocelyn Bravo and Sienna Burnett. Despite the effort to turn things around in the last set Dickinson closed out the match with a 25-20 set win. 

Freshman Nicole Wood led the Owls with eight kills, four assists and 10 digs. Jane Rand was strong on the defensive side for the Owls with 17 digs and 11 assists. 

In the second match up of the day against Lycoming College it was Nicole Wood who was strong at the net. Wood led the way for the Owls yet again with seven kills and seven assists. Freshman Jane Rand and Kira Ogoshi proved to be a defensive duo as they led the team in digs, while Sienna Burnett posted two kills for the Owls.

After a tough loss earlier in the day the Owls found themselves in an early two set deficit again, this time against Lycoming College ( 25-11, 25-15). In the last set of the match Lycoming kept its distance pushing their lead to 14-9. After a brief timeout and an attempt to shift the energy thanks to a kill from Nicole Wood Lycoming closed out the match with a 25-17 set win.

The Owls will be back on the road for a non-conference match up on Wednesday, October 17th against Neumann College at 7 PM.
