SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Wednesday October 10th the Bryn Mawr Owls hit the road to Swarthmore, Pennsylvania for a 7 PM match against Swarthmore College. The Owls battled hard for three sets, but were unable to come up with a win in any of the sets in a 0-3 loss. Sienna Burnett led the Owls with 4 kills and one serving ace. Kira Ogoshi had a strong defensive match, leading the team and recording a total 7 digs. Swarthmore was powered by 11 kills and 4 service aces from senior Bridget Scott.
Swarthmore got off to a swift start in tonight's match, jumping out to quick leads in both the first and second sets. Ultimately, Swarthmore took a 2-0 lead in the match by winning the first two sets in 25-0 and 25-10 fashion. Despite the rough start Bryn Mawr did not let that get them down.
A kill from Sienna Burnett, followed by two kills from Delia Landers, were the first plays of the third set and gave the Owls their first lead of the night (3-1). Soon after, a service ace from Bridget Scott followed by errors on behalf of Swarthmore tied the teams at 5-5. A kill from Bridget Scott placed the ball back in Swarthmore's court and the team found their groove again. After a brief time out, Swarthmore went on an 11 point run to close out the set with a 25-10 win over the Owls.
The Owls will have a few more opportunities to get back in the win column, and that starts with their tri-match this Saturday. The team will be traveling to Utica, New York for a tri-match against Utica College and SUNY Delhi.
