LEXINGTON, Ky. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association announced the recipients of their AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2016-17 season last week, and Bryn Mawr volleyball has been recognized as one of the top achieving academic squads in the country by once again being named to that list. This year marks the program's eighth appearance in the AVCA Team Academic Award recognitions since the 07-08 season.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
Bryn Mawr was one of 154 NCAA Division III women's teams to be bestowed with this honor. Overall, this was a high-water mark for this award, as a record 832 teams across high school and college were named to the list this year.
