SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Bryn Mawr track and field team closed out their 2018 outdoor campaign with one final competition on Monday. The Owls sent a few of their student-athletes over to Swarthmore for the Swarthmore Final Qualifier, with many in search of one more PR or season-best before the season wrapped up.
Julie Gonzales led the way for the Owls in the pole vault. After many attempts to conquer 3.20m Gonzales wrapped up the night clearing 3.05m which will tie her school record in the event. Gonzales previously set the record for pole vault back in 2016 at the Mason-Dixon Invitational.
In the women's 5k the Owls saw Kate Edwards finish in a swift 18:29.89 behind runners from Colby and Vassar College. Teammate Anna Kyle was not far behind with her impressive finish of 18:57.28, a personal best in the event by over a minute and the sophomore's first time running under 19 seconds in the event.
Today's meet concludes a fantastic season for Bryn Mawr Track and Field. The Owls set nine new school records this year and look forward to continuing to make great strides when they get back in action in the fall.
