Phillip Sets New School Record at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - It's always an exciting opportunity for an athlete to take part in an historic event like the Penn Relays, and Bryn Mawr track & field's Natalia Phillip certainly took advantage of that chance. The Owls freshman toppled her own school record in the shot put with a dominating performance earlier Thursday at the opening day of the prestigious event at Franklin Field.

Having already set the school record in the shot put earlier this season at the Widener Invitational last Friday, Phillip kept the positive momentum rolling today with another awesome mark in the event. The Massachusetts native blasted past her previous best, throwing a long of 12.70 meters in the event. That was almost a full half-meter past her previous school record of 12.22 and also a new personal best for Phillip.

The Owls will be back in action on Saturday with a portion of the team traveling to Elizabethtown for one final tune-up before Centennial Conference Championships the following weekend.
