West Chester, Pa. - The Bryn Mawr track and field team kicked off the two-day Bill Butler Invitational earlier Friday evening.
Several Owls were in action, including a pair of student-athletes participating in the heptathlon. Both Rebecca Craig and Marissa Mirecki are taking part in the event this weekend, and it kicked off with several events tonight. Craig set a personal record in the hurdles portion, while in the high jump it was Mirecki who posted a best of 1.28 meters. Both put up good numbers in the 200 meter dash and in the shot put, and they'll both head into tomorrow with a solid foundation looking to post a new school record in the event.
Gwendolyn Vary also saw action tonight in the hammer throw. The sophomore put up a new school record in the event, beating her mark from last week by a centimeter to reset the bar.
Also competing on Friday was Kate Edwards, who ran her first collegiate 10k in the meet. The freshman opened aggressively en route to a solid time in the event.
The rest of the Owls squad will join the team tomorrow for the final day of action in the Bill Butler Invitational, with a majority of the big events set to take place. Check back in for a full recap of all the day's events right here!
