ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr College outdoor track and field team competed at the Greyhound Invitational hosted by Moravian College Saturday as they enter their final week of preparations for the upcoming Centennial Conference Championships.
Freshman Ashley Macina and sophomore Yue Yang each set a pair of personal bests while punching their ticket for the conference championships. Macina leaped 4.27m in the long jump before running a 2:47.21 in the 800m. Yang posted a time of 67.34 in the 400m before doubling back with a 30.73 in the 200m later in the afternoon.
Also in the long jump, sophomore Jing Ma leaped 4.04m while senior Rachael Kahelin jumped a season best's distance of 4.10. Kahelin also led the charge in the javelin with a new personal best and team best mark of 20.17.
Freshman Gwendolyn Vary and sophomore Rebecca Craig threw personal bests of 17.24 and 15.03m, respectively, in the javelin. Vary also set a season best in the shot put (8.25m) and personal best in discus (21.93).
Back on the track, junior Elaine Schmidt posted a time of 5:05.05 in the 1500m and sophomore Hannah Hastings ran an 11:31.02 in the steeplechase. Both times are personal best's times by more than 10 seconds.
The team will compete at Penn Relays Thursday evening before heading to their final regular season race at West Chester University on Friday.
