GWYNEDD, Pa. – The Bryn Mar College track and field team traveled mid-week to the Twilight Invite hosted by Gwynedd-Mercy College Wednesday evening.
Leading the Owls was freshman thrower Ola Madamidola. Her heave of 8.70m was good for 6th place and has qualified her for conference championships at the end of the year. In other field events, the high jumping trio of junior Sara Jane Rodgers, freshman Marissa Mirecki and sophomore Tehzeeb Tyebjee finished 2-3-4, respectively, by clearing 1.27m.
Senior Kristina Kronauer continued her dominance this spring but in unlikely events – 1500m and 800m. In the 1500, she posted a time of 4:52.18 to win the event by more than 14 seconds over Gwyneed-Mercy's Christina Smith before posting a 6th place finish in the 800m with a 2:28.92. Both times are personal best times and have her qualified for conferences. In the 100m, sophomore Tonja Nixon posted her fastest time of the season by sprinting to a 13:40.
In other running events, Rodgers posted a personal best time in the 100m hurdles with a time of 22.97 while sophomore Elaine Schmidt produced a personal best of 1:04.35 in the 400m dash.
The Owls will be back on the track when they travel to Ursinus College on Friday, April 19, for the Grizzly Classic.
