Track & Field Opens Weekend With Trio of Performances in New York

NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. - The Bryn Mawr track and field team got a busy weekend opened up earlier Friday night with several very strong performances at the first day of the Armory Track and Field Invitational.

Sophomore Kate Edwards was the first Owl in action on the day, and she got Bryn Mawr's participation in the historic venue off to a terrific start. Edwards ran the 3k and posted a new personal best time of 10:47. Not only was that a PR for Edwards, it was also good enough for her to earn 14th place overall in a field full of numerous Division I institutions.

Up next for Bryn Mawr was freshman Tara Holman. Competing in the 60 meter dash, Holman put up a solid time of 8.38 seconds.

Senior Hannah Hastings closed out the day for the Owls by running in the 5k in the evening. Hastings posted a season best time of 18:09 in the event, also good enough to earn her 23rd place in another packed field.

The Owls will be back in action tomorrow in two locations. Bryn Mawr will have athletes taking part in three more events at the Armory tomorrow. Meanwhile, the rest of the team will be in action at the Frank Colden Invitational, hosted by Ursinus College.
