EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Junior Claudia Keep lowered her own school record in the 3K to 10:09.03 as the indoor track and field team traveled to East Stroudsburg University for the DeSchriver Invitational.
In addition to setting a new school record, Keep also won the event by nearly 37-seconds. Also in the 3k, sophomore Hannah Hastings took home 6th place with a time of 10:59.91
In the 55m, junior Tonja Nixon sprinted to a time of 8.06, a season best time, while sophomores Chanel Williams and Kim Grace were right behind her with times of 8.70 and 9.27, respectively. Williams came back a few events later and posted a time of 32.44 in the 200m dash for her second personal best time of the day.
In the 1000m, senior Victoria Travis finished fourth with a time of 3:32.48. Freshman Ashley Macina posted the teams' fast time in the 800m with a 2:50.21, while classmate Syndey Maves time of 5:54.91 in the mile was the fastest on the team.
In the field events, freshman Gwendolyn Vary threw a new personal best of 8.47m in the shot while qualifying for the Centennial Conference Championships later this season. In the pole vault, freshman Holly Senebandith's vault of 2.75m tied her season best mark while finishing fourth in the event.
In the 4x400, the sophomore team of Alex Beda, Yamina Mohattane, Lauren Dana and Yue Yang won team bragging rights as they were the fastest Bryn Mawr quad with a time of 4:56.88. The junior class finished with a 4:56.91 followed by the freshman team.
In all, the team produced one school record, 15 personal best times and distance and six season best times and distances.
The Owls are back to action when they travel to Ursinus for the Frank Colden Invite on Saturday, Feb. 8.
