Indoor Track and Field Competes at Haverford’s Holiday Meet

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr College indoor track and field team took to the track Saturday afternoon for the final time in the fall portion of their 2013-14 schedule as they competed at Haverford's Holiday Meet.

The highlight of the day was freshman Holly Senebandith's win in the pole vault. Her vault of 2.67m edged out fellow classmate Maddy Mark how finished second with a vault of 2.51m.

Junior Claudia Keep, who was recently named Philadelphia Inquirer's Academic All-Area Cross Country Performer of the Year earlier this week, took to the track in the 5K. Keep took the lead at the sound of the gun and never looked back. She paced the field with a time of 17:23.17 while setting a new school record. The previous school record was held by Kristina Kronauer with a time of 18:05.37 at last year's conference championships.

Also in the 5k, sophomore Hannah Hastings finished 5th overall with a time of 18:31.93; a new personal best time.

In the 60m, junior Tonja Nixon led a slew of Owls with a 6th place finish in a time of 8:52. Sophomore Chanel Williams (9.03), junior Tehzeeb Tyebjee (9.45), freshman Grace Kim (9.79) and MJ Johnson (10.59) either ran a personal best or season best time in the event.

In the 800m, sophomores Yue Yang and Lauren Dana ran a 2:47.21 and 2:52.56, respectively.

The Owls are off until the New Year when they travel back to Haverford on Saturday, Jan. 25, for the Haverford Invite.
