NEWARK, Del. – Sophomore Claudia Keep has done it again, she has added her name to the record books. On Saturday, while competing at the Thomson Invitational hosted by the University of Delaware, Keep set a new time in the 3K with a 10:29.42, more than eight seconds faster than the previous record held by Katie Weng.
Despite running against some stiff competition from DI and DIII, Keep took home fourth place behind F&M's Sheena Crawley and a pair of Division I runners. Also in the 3K race, senior Kristina Kronauer finished 15th overall with a time of 11:05.73 while freshman Hannah Hastings claimed 27th with an 11:48.43. Kronauer's time has qualified her for the Centennial Conference Championships on Saturday, Feb. 23, at Ursinus College
Following a record setting performance at the Ursinus Pentathlon on Wednesday, senior Sarajane Rodgers, posted a solid leap in the long jump (3.24m). Joining classmate Rachel Shen in the 60m, both athletes posted personal best times with Shen sprinting to a 9.54 and Rodgers to a 10.08.
In the 800m, freshman Alex Beda ran to her fastest time of the season with a 2:41.56. She is only 2.5 seconds away from qualify for the conference championships.
The Owls are back to action next Saturday when they travel to East Stroudsburg for the DeShriver Invitational.
