COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Senior Sarajane Rodgers set the school's record Wednesday evening in the pentathlon with 1181 points at the Ursinus College Pentathlon Invite.
The pentathlon is a five-event contest that is awarded points by your time/distance in each event which includes: 60m hurdles, high jump, long jump, shot put and 800m run.
Rodgers started the pentathlon off with a 14.24 in the 60m hurdles followed by jump of 1.19m in the high jump. In the long jump she leaped 3.64, before heaving the shot put 6.07m. The final event, the 800m run, Rodgers posted a time of 3:14.19. Rodgers finished 16th out of 19 participants in her first ever attempt at the pentathlon.
In addition to her first time participating in the five-event competition, Rodgers also becomes the first Bryn Mawr indoor athlete to complete the pentathlon.
The indoor track and field team will travel to the University of Delaware this Saturday, Jan. 26, for the Thomson Invite.
