Indoor Track & Field Opens 2012-13 Campaign

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The 2012-2013 Bryn Mawr College indoor track and field season got underway Saturday as they Owls travel down Route 30 to Haverford for the Jack Pyrah Invitational.

Sophomore Tehzeeb Tyebjee and senior Rachel Shen started the day with the running of 60m dash. In the race, Shen sprinted to a 9.76 while Tybejee put forth a solid performance with a time of 10.04.

Senior Sarajane Rodgers ran a 56.76 in the 300m while freshman classmates Julie Henrikson and Marissa Mirecki ran a 1:35.24 and 1:37.43, respectively, in the 500m.

Racing in a very competitive 1000m race, freshman Alex Beda and sophomore Rachel Hagar ran solid races by posting times of 3:24.45 and 3:47.48, respectively. Both times are personal best times for these two at the 1000m distance. The milers looked out on the track, while sophomore Elaine Schmidt ran a 5:59 while junior Sarah Macholdt ran a 6:15. The 4x400 brought the baton around the track in a time of 4:51.

The Owls are back to action when they travel back to Haverford on Saturday, Dec. 15, for the annual Holiday Meet.
