Reading, Pa. – Bryn Mawr Tennis was back in action today taking on the Golden Wolves of Alvernia University. Just three days after their shutout defeat of Arcadia, the Owls continued their winning ways with a dominating 7-2 victory.
In doubles, Bryn Mawr controlled the matches from start to finish. After gaining their first win in the third doubles match due to a walkover, Sydney Kim and Christina Xue paired up to earn a 8-1 win in second doubles. Not to be outdone, Hannah Sherman and Lizzie Siegle picked up right where they left off on Wednesday and completed the doubles sweep with an 8-2 victory.
After the sixth singles match was conceded to Bryn Mawr in walkover fashion, Abbygail Brewster stepped up to earn a point for the Owls in the fifth singles match, easily winning in straight sets (6-1, 6-0). Bryn Mawr had not seen the last of the Golden Wolves though and despite a hard-fought match, Mariam Haider was unable to pull out the win, dropping the second singles match 1-6, 2-6. In the first singles match, Alvernia picked up their final point as Lizzie Siegle was forced to retire just 1-1 into the first set. With the momentum moving in Alvernia's direction, the Owls' Francesca Caramazza was up for the challenge to swing the pendulum back towards Bryn Mawr, winning the fourth singles match, 6-2, 6-2. Finally, Jennifer Laske closed out the day for Bryn Mawr with a victory in the third singles match, 6-3, 6-4.
