Tennis Slips Up to Ursinus in Final Road Match of Season

Collegeville, Pa. - The Owls tennis team hit the road for the final time this season earlier Thursday afternoon. Unfortunately, Bryn Mawr ran into a buzzsaw in the form of a tough Bears squad on the Ace Bailey Courts at Ursinus College, losing the match by a final of 0-9.

The doubles contests were fairly well contested. At first doubles, Melina Koukoutchos and Lizzie Siegle fought hard for a good portion of the match, but ultimately were unable to hang on in the latter stages in an 8-4 loss. Mariam Haider and Kendall Baller were able to win a few games of their own but suffered a similar fate, while Eram Haider and Tirsa Delate couldn't scratch anything across in an 8-0 loss.

In singles, Ursinus managed to win each of the six matches in straight sets. Koukoutchos had the best go at it at the second singles position. The junior was able to take three games in each set, but fell by a 6-3, 6-3 score in the match. Over the other five matches, the Owls players were only able to win five games total en route to the tough 9-0 loss.

Bryn Mawr will now return home to close out their busy season with a rare doubleheader on Saturday. Due to previous postponements, the Owls have moved their match against Franklin & Marshall on Saturday up to 11:00 AM in order to also be able to face off against Johns Hopkins later at 3:00 PM.
