Allentown, Pa. - The Bryn Mawr tennis team hit the road for a match earlier Wednesday afternoon. After several rainouts kept the Owls from competing last week, Bryn Mawr finally got a chance to get outside and put their hard winter training to use. Unfortunately, the squad ran into a buzz saw today in the form of Muhlenberg, as the Mules earned a 9-0 victory in today's affair.
All six singles matches were a struggle for Bryn Mawr on the afternoon. In first singles, Melina Koukoutchos fought hard, but was onable to win a game in the first set. In the second, she managed to draw back a game, but still ultimately fell by a final score of 6-0, 6-1. The second and third singles matches ended in similar fashion. Lizzie Siegle fell by a score of 6-0, 6-2 in her match, while Kendall Baller lost by a score of 6-1, 6-2.
Alex Acaba, the lone winner of the team's last match at Haverford, couldn't replicate the feat today in a 8-0 loss. In fifth singles, Tirsa Delate fell by the same 8-0 score, while Molly MacDougall lost the final singles match by a score of 8-2. The doubles matches resulted in a similar fate, with only the third doubles team of Delate and Jennifer Laske able to take any games in their match. All in all, the Owls were only able to take 10 games out of the nine matches played.
Bryn Mawr will look to rebound on Saturday when they return home for their first home match of the spring season. The Owls will play host to Dickinson this weekend, a team that is currently 2-5 on the season and will be coming off of a match against Ursinus on Friday.
