ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - The Bryn Mawr swim team showcased some very impressive performances earlier Saturday afternoon in a non-conference meet at Elizabethtown. The Owls took on both the host Blue Jays and Cabrini and earned two big wins thanks to plenty of wins and season best swims on the day.
Becca Adlai-Gail earned another signature win in the 1000 yard freestyle. The senior smashed her previous season best in the event by over two seconds, swimming an 11:26.18 to win the event by almost 20 seconds. Faith Meacham also shattered her season best by almost seven seconds in the event.
Adlai-Gail would make it 2-for-2 with a win in the 500 as well, and once again she toppled a season best in the process. Adlai-Gail earned the win with a time of 5:34.26, over five seconds faster than her previous best this year. Faith Meacham also swam a season best in the event with a time of 6:09.55.
Emmy Wisz also picked up a big win in the 100 butterfly. The first-year just missed out on a new season best, but still won going away in a time of 1:03.81. Lucy Bruemmer finished right behind Wisz in second place in a time of 1:06.75.
Maya Schneider was another Owl to earn a first-place finish on the day, taking the top spot in the 100 backstroke. The sophomore shaved more than a second off of her previous fastest time this season by posting a 1:05.92 in the event, good enough to win by almost two seconds. Ruth Mullin also set a new season best in the event, swimming a 1:18.04.
Hannah Soisson put up a strong effort in the 100 breaststroke to take second place in that event. She was joined in the event by Maggie Hernan, who set a new season best time with a fourth-place finish in 1:19.48. Hannah Nye's 1:26.82 was also a season best.
Kelly Peterson claimed a second-place finish in the 200 free, swimming a 2:10.73 in the event. Peterson would go on to take third in the 100 freestyle, missing a new season best by less than a second with a time of 1:00.69. Clara Costello swam a new season best in the event, topping her previous fastest time by almost a second.
In the 50 freestyle, Ryan Griffin took third place with a time of 27.66. Maya Schneider also earned a third-place finish in the 200 IM by swimming a 2:24.29. Anna Danesh also swam the event, swimming a new season best time of 2:31.67 to take sixth place.
The Owls 200 medley relay opened the day with a strong second place finish, as Maya Schneider, Hannah Soisson, Emmy Wisz, and Ryan Griffin teamed up to swim a 2:01.13 and finish less than .28 of a second outside of the top spot in that event. In the final event of the day, Bryn Mawr took another second place finish in the 400 free relay, with the team of Peterson, Schwimmer, Bruemmer, and Griffin combining to swim a 4:03.84.
With the day's performances, the Owls picked up exciting wins over both Elizabethtown and Cabrini on the day. Bryn Mawr will be back in action on the first weekend of December at the Gettysburg Invitational.
