Owls Post Strong Results On Day One Of Gettysburg Invitational

GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- Bryn Mawr sent a trio of swimmers to the Gettysburg College earlier Friday evening for day one of the Gettysburg Invitational. A two day meet that welcomes the Centennial Confence's Dickinson College, Gettysburg College, Franklin and Marshall and other non Centennial Conference schools such as University of Mary Washington. Lillian Oyen-Ustad, Lauren Birmingham and Hannah Soisson were the three Owls in attendance representing Bryn Mawr.

Lillian Oyen-Ustad and Lauren Birmingham were the first of the Owls to take a splash into the pool competing in the 100 yard freestyle. Oyen-Ustad's time of 55.48 landed her a 7th place finish overall beating out 21 other swimmers in the event. Additionally the time of 55.48 will stand as Oyen-Ustad's season best time as she slowly chips away at the school record. Freshman Lauren Birmingham landed a 29th place finish in a time of 1:02.53 which resulted in another season best for the Owls.

Hannah Soisson was the last to take the water for the Owls. The freshman swimmer raced in the 200 yard breaststroke. In a field of 16 competitors Soisson landed a 12th place finish in a time of 2:39.54, very close to her time posted against washington College.

After day one the Owls are certainly off to a great start. The tough competition the Owls faced today and their individual times certainly speak to how the Owls will perform tomorrow. Day two of the Gettysburg Invitational will begin at 10 AM.
