CARLISLE, Pa. - The Bryn Mawr swimming team was back in the pool Friday night, squaring off against Centennial Conference foe, Dickinson College. Despite various strong individual races from Varuna Jasodanand, Lillian Oyen-Ustad, Becca Adlai-Gail and Lucy Bruemmer, the team fell 82-123 to Dickinson College. With the win the Devils will move on to 3-1, while the Owls slip to 0-4.
Bryn Mawr opened the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 yard medley relay. The foursome of sophomores Samantha Forestier, Sophia Goldstein, Kimberly Akins and freshman Lauren Birmingham combined for a time of 2:13.95.
Sophomore Becca Adlai-Gail landed a third place finish in the 1000 yard freestyle, finishing in 11:29.95. The sophomore swimmer was edged out by five seconds by the second place finisher Maddie Littlepage from Dickinson College. Faith Meacham finished in fourth with a time of 12:26.17, while freshman Annie Varatharajah was fifth with a time of 15:39.17.
Maddie Schwimmer swam to second in the 200 yard freestyle in a time of 2:06.41.
Lillian Oyen-Ustad powered her way to second in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25.72, finishing just one hundredth of a second behind the first place finisher Molly Sternick of Dickinson College. Shortly after, the junior swimmer got her redemption and won the 100 yard freestyle in a speedy time of 56.78.
Varuna Jasodanand garnered two wins for the Owls, the first being in the 200 yard IM. The sophomore swimmer finished in a time of 2:19.65 and beat out the second place finisher by almost two seconds. Jasodanand then came back to win the 100 yard backstroke in a time of 1:04.08. Jasodanand closed out her third and final race of the day with the 100 yard breaststroke. Where she landed a second place finish in a time of 1:13.37. Hannah Soisson was right on Jasodanand's tail and swam to a third place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke, finishing in a time of 1:13.43.
In her third race of the day Becca Adlai-Gail swam to a second place finish in the 100 yard butterfly. The sophomore swimmer clocked in a time of 1:07.21. Her day did not conclude there. Adlai-Gail also took part in the 500 yard freestyle and landed a 5th place finish which was right behind Maddie Littlepage and Madelyn Schwimmer who finished second and third respectively in the event.
The meet concluded with the 200 yard freestyle relay, where Bryn Mawr's A team swam to a second place finish in a time of 1:48.86, which was just one hundredth of a second behind Dickinson College. The relay consisted of Hannah Soisson, Ryan Griffin, Lucy Bruemmer, and Lillian Oyen-Ustad.
The Owls return to action Saturday, November 18th for their first home meet of the season against Washington College.
