Swimming Completes 2013 Seven Sisters Championships

WELLESLEY, Mass. – The 2013 Seven Sisters Swimming Championships concluded Sunday afternoon with the host Wellesley College Blue claiming their 16th straight Seven Sisters Team Title. Bryn Mawr finished in 5th place with 362 team points. The Owls are the only Seven Sisters institute that doesn't have a diving team.

In the day's final action, it was the 100 freestyle that propelled the Owls. Senior Meredith Davis claimed her second individual title of the Championship by sprinting to a 55.30, edging Monica Gates of Wellesley by two tenths of a second. Freshman Rebecca Craig finished 6th overall in the event with a 56.96, followed by sophomore Kristina Xiang in 12th place with a 58.68. The event produced 38 team points for the Yellow and White.

In the 200 breaststroke, freshman Angela Mastrianni took home 9th place with a time of 2:41.81. She was followed by senior Mairin O'Connor in 13th place with a 2:5.84. In the 200 butterfly, Davis, who took home second in the 100 fly, finished 11th with a time of 2:28.55.

In the only other individual race that the Owls scored in on Sunday was the 1650 freestyle. Junior Ruth Logan finished the race with a time of 20:17.22, good for 15th place, while senior Hannah Gilbert finished one place later, 16th, with a 20:26.96.

In the Championships final event of the day, the 400 free relay, the team of freshman Sahara Clement, Craig, Davis and Xiang finished in 6th place with a 3:54.73, the fastest time for the Owls this season.
