Soccer Drops Conference Tilt With Diplomats 1-0

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – An early goal by the visiting Franklin and Marshall Diplomats proved to be all they needed to leave the Main Line with an 1-0 win over the Owls Saturday afternoon on Applebee Field.

F&M netted the game's only goal in 3rd minute as Spencer Plante lofted a shot over the hands of senior goalie Valentina Viertel to give the Diplomats the 1-0 lead.

Bryn Mawr didn't roll over in the game after falling behind early. The Yellow and White battled with the Diplomats the remainder of the first-half to make sure they were within striking distance.

In the second-half, the Owls stepped-up and started to put the heat on the Diplomats defense. However, on the cool and sunny afternoon, the F&M defenders were up to the task ad they kept the Owls out of the goal.

Freshman Madeleine Mark and sophomore Hannah Broderick combined for five of Bryn Mawr's six shots on the day while sophomore Allegra Levy added the other. Viertel posted sour saves.

Both teams attack was pretty even but it was F&M holding a 9-6 lead in shots and 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.

The Owls are back to action then they travel to Dickinson on Saturday, Oct. 5. Game time is set for 1:00 pm.
