LANCASTER, Pa. - Bryn Mawr midfielder Sloan Johnson put together a sparkling week offensively for the Owls lacrosse team last week, and for her efforts she has earned Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors from the league office.
Johnson, a first-year midfielder from Chattanooga, Tenn., tallied four goals apiece in both of the Owls' big wins last week. Against Rutgers-Camden, Johnson tallied four times in the first half to help Bryn Mawr claim a 19-7 win. Then two days later, the first-year scored a pair of goals in each half, including the game-winner in a 20-1 rout of Cedar Crest. She also added an assist in the game against the Falcons to end up with a nine-point week. With the wins, Bryn Mawr moves to 6-0 on the season, their best start ever to a season and the first six-game win streak in recorded program history.
Johnson has been on a tear to start her first collegiate season. The first-year is now tied as the second-leading scorer in the Centennial Conference this year with 15 goals and is also tied at the top of the conference in free position percentage after scoring on her lone FPS opportunity last week. Thanks to Johnson's output, the Owls lead the conference in scoring offense and points per game and are fifth nationally in scoring margin.
Unfortunately with the current COVID-19 situation, it is uncertain when Johnson and the rest of the Owls will be back in action, but you can be certain the squad is thrilled with the impressive start they got their 2020 campaign off to!
