CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The Bryn Mawr lacrosse team was back in action Wednesday night for yet another Centennial Conference contest. This time, the Owls traveled to Washington College for another tough matchup against the Shorewomen. Sophomore Fiona Steele provided the only offense of the night for Bryn Mawr, scoring twice in the Owls' tough loss. The Shorewomen were led by Morgan Moran and Kristy Grovom, who tallied three times apiece in the 14-2 win. Katie Alpert made 10 saves in the cage for the Owls.
Bryn Mawr (4-7, 0-6 CC) fell behind in the early goings of tonight's contest, as Washington College (7-5, 2-2 CC) scored the first three goals of the game, and all within the first five minutes. Steele got the Owls on the board with a response just moments later, however. The Owls' leading scorer got on the receiving end of a clearing attempt and took the ball into the offensive zone herself and fired it into the cage to make it a 3-1 game.
The Shorewomen would score 9 unanswered goals to follow that up, however, taking a 12-1 lead by the midway point of the second half. It was then that Steele would tally her second of the game turning a free position shot into her second goal of the night to get Bryn Mawr back within ten. It was just too late to have any impact on the game, as Washington College held on for the 14-2 win.
Bryn Mawr will return home on Saturday for their next contest, as the Owls close out their play on Applebee Field this year with one final two-game homestand. It starts when they take on Haverford this weekend, with the two teams facing off at 1:00 PM. Then, Bryn Mawr will play their final home game on Tuesday afternoon, as they celebrate Senior Day against Rosemont.
