Johnson Scores Twice Against #8 F&M

LANCASTER, Pa. – Freshman Claire Johnson scored a pair of goals as the Owls fell to #8 Franklin and Marshall 18-3 Wednesday afternoon in Centennial Conference action.

The Diplomats jumped out to a 5-0 lead before Johnson scored her first goal of the game on a free position shot at 24:02. Over a span of 14 minutes, F&M tacked on seven more goals to take a commanding 12-1 lead.

With 7:41 to plan in the first-half, junior Kathleen Magner scored an unassisted goal to cut the Diplomats' lead to ten. Franklin and Marshall added three more goals to add to their lead.

With six seconds left in the half, Johnson scored her second goal of the game the same way she did her first, on a free position shot. The half ended following the draw with the Diplomats holding a twelve goal lead, 15-3.

In the second-half, F&M scored only three goals while shutting out the Owls as they cruised to the 18-3 win.

Leading the Diplomats with three goals was Brittney Jorgenson, Caroline Krohn and Maggie Mae Shields.

For the Owls, sophomore goalie Grace Baelen-King posted one save and two groundballs. Magner recorded four draws and two groundballs while sophomore Alyssa Young scooped-up one groundball.

Bryn Mawr is back to action on Saturday, April 6, when they host the Ursinus Bears at 1:00 pm on Applebee Field.
