Dwyer Tallies Four Goals as Lacrosse Tops Rosemont 12-7

ROSEMONT, Pa. – Sophomore Ashton Dwyer recorded a game-high four goals as Bryn Mawr defeated cross-town rival Rosemont, 12-7, Saturday afternoon in non-league action.

Bryn Mawr paced the first-half as they outscored Rosemont 7-3. The Owls jumped out to an early 2-0 lead as freshman Claire Johnson scored on a free position shot followed by a Dwyer goal 42-seconds later. Johnson earned the assist on Dwyer's goal.

Rosemont tied the game at two with back-to-back goals from sisters Ashley and Brittany Fuller. Dwyer broke the tie with helped from classmate Tanya Hamid at 17:48. Three minutes later, junior Kathleen Magner scored an unassisted goal as the Owls were down a player due to a yellow card being issued to Hamid.

After a Rosemont goal from Kerry Hars, The Owls tallied three more goals before the end of the half. At 10:38, senior Melina Higgins fed Dwyer with an assist before Magner scored another unassisted goal twenty-seconds later. Freshman Georgina Dominique took a pass from Dwyer with just over 1:30 to play in the half to give the Owls their 7-3 lead.

Dwyer (29:30), Higgins (28:25) and sophomore Zoe Fisher (26:28) opened the second-half with goals to take a seven-point lead, 10-3. Four of the next five goals in the game came from the Ravens. After Rosemont's first goal, Dominique went between the pipes at 20:42.

Holding a four-goal lead, 11-7, Magner scored her fourth goal of the game four ticks before the final horn to give the Owls the 12-7 victory.

Dwyer ended the day with five points (four goals, 1 assists) while Magner added three points (3 goals). Five other Owls - Dominique (2 goals), Fisher (1 goal, 1 assist), Hamid (2 assists), Higgins (1 goal, 1 assist) and Johnson (1 goal, 1 assist) - ended the game with two points. Magner scooped-up nine ground balls while Dominique and Hamid each had four.

Sophomore Katie Fong picked-up her first win of the season in goal. She ended the game with three saves.

The Owls are back to action when they welcome Sweet Briar to Applebee Field on Thursday, March 14, at 1:00 pm.
