BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Senior Nicolette Parmese netted 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds but it wasn't enough as the visiting Garnet handed the Owls a 85-26 non-league loss Tuesday night on the Main Line.
Swarthmore opened the game with a pair of lay-ups from Katie Lytle to set the tempo of the game. After the Owls tied the game with a layup and a pair of good free throws, the Garnet started to pull away and never looked back.
Swarthmore held the Owls scoreless for nearly six minutes as they took a commanding 19-6 lead. Down the stretch it was Parmese leading the Owls by scoring all eight of their points during the final five minutes of the half. Swarthmore took a 38-14 lead into the half.
After an early lay-up from sophomore Veronica Roux at 18:19 to start the second-half, the Garnet held the Owls to just one point over the next ten minutes as they pushed their lead to 67-17. During the final eight minutes of the game, Bryn Mawr tallied nine points from four different players.
Leading all scorers was Lytle with 20 points. Elle Larsen, Isabella Bellezza and Maggie O'Neil each reached double-figures on the evening. Larsen, Lytle and Chasity Hopkins pulled down eight rebounds apiece.
In addition to Parmese's 5th double-double of the season, Roux added six points and four boards. Junior Saira Kitagawa and freshman Tosin Ajiboye added two points each and senior Lucy Gleysteen made a free-throw.
