SWARTHMORE, Pa. –Junior Nicolette Parmese scored a team-best 15 points as the Owls fell to host Swarthmore 82-35 Wednesday night in Centennial Conference action.
The Garnet jumped out to an early 12-1 led during the opening three minutes of action. Bryn Mawr's one point was netted by freshman Liandra Curtis via free-throw at 18:31. Following a pair of free-throws from Parmese at 16:28, Swarthmore held the Owls scoreless over the next five minutes as they pushed their lead to 18, 21-3.
Parmese recorded Bryn Mawr's next four points with a pair of lay-up that spanned a three minute period. With just over five minutes to play in the half, sophomore Ashton Dwyer connected a shot from downtown.
The Owls scored three points over the final 61-second of the half, all from the charity stripe, as junior Jackie Handy sunk a pair and Curtis added another. Swarthmore took a commanding 42-13 lead at the half.
The second-half started in similar fashion to the first as the Owls were held scores for nearly four minutes before Curtis made a pair of free-throws at 16:12. Swarthmore pushed their lead to 78-25 with 5:15 to play in the game.
Over the final five minutes of the game, Bryn Mawr outscored Swarthmore 10-4, as four different players made baskets.
Swarthmore was led by Jessica Jowdy and Eliza Polli, both with 18 points. Katie Lytle and Elle Larsen added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Lytle grabbed a game-best 17 rebounds.
Curtis ended the night with six points while Handy and freshman Ashlee Williams added five and four, respectively. Curtis pulled down a team-high seven rebounds while Parmese snagged five. Sophomore Chantille Kennedy was a perfect 2-for-2 from the free-throw line.
The Owls conclude their 2012-2013 campaign this Saturday when they host Washington College at 2:00 pm inside the Class of 1958 Gymnasium. Saturday will also be Senior Day where the duo of Aislinn Toohey and Soroaya Terrab will be honored.
