CARLISLE, Pa. – Junior Nicolette Parmese netted a team-best 14 points but it wasn't enough as the Dickinson College Red Devils downed the Owls 61-37 Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference action.
Parmese got the Owls on the board at 18:11 with a pair of free-throws followed by a jumper four minutes into the game. Following a layup and a free-throw from Parmese five minutes later, the Dickinson defense held Bryn Mawr scoreless the next 9:01 as the Devils took a commanding 37-16 lead.
Out of the half, both teams went shot-for-shot until the Devils rattled off seven straight to increase their lead to 24, 54-30.
Bryn Mawr held Dickinson scoreless for more than five minutes during the games final 10 minutes. During that span, freshman Liandra Curtis, junior Jackie Handy and Parmese all added points for the Yellow and White.
Following a layup from Handy with 2:16 to play in the game, Bryn Mawr was held scoreless as Dickinson held on for the 61-37 victory.
In addition to her 14 points, Parmese grabbed six rebounds and one assist. Handy, Toohey and Williams each added six points. Williams pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.
Dickinson placed three players in double digits with Belma Mekic leading the way with 15. Dana Walsh added 14 while Lindsay Finnerty chipped-in 10.
The Owls welcome crosstown rival Rosemont to the Class of 1958 Gymnasium on Monday, Jan. 11, at 7:00 pm.
