BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Junior Nicolette Parmese earned her eighth double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds as the Owls fell to visiting Johns Hopkins 72-37 Tuesday night.
After getting on the board with a Parmese jumper, Bryn Mawr was held scoreless for more than four minutes as Johns Hopkins built an 11-2 lead forcing the Owls to call a timeout. Freshman Ashlee Williams made it 4-11 with a lay-up on Bryn Mawr's ensuing passion.
Following a three-pointer from Johns Hopkins' Katie Clark with 11:35 to play in the half, Bryn Mawr held the Blue Jays to only two points for nearly seven minutes. Their two points came way of free-throws at 6:54. During that time, Bryn Mawr mustered-up six points, four from Williams and two from Parmese.
After back-to-back free-throws from Parmese at 3:28, JHU held the Owls without a basket until a layup from Parmese with 53-seconds left in the half. The Blue Jays took a 32-14 lead into the lockers at the half.
In the second-half, Williams paced the Owls with six points while Parmese added five. Freshman Liandra Curtis was perfect from the charity-stripe as she went 4-4 in the second while senior Aislinn Toohey made one basket from beyond the arch.
Leading Hopkins and all scorers with 19 points was Alex Vissala while Ciara McCullagh added 11 boards and 10 points off the bench.
Williams ended the night with 12 points, her seventh game this season reaching double-digits in scoring. Curtis added four points and four boards while Toohey added three points and three rebounds. Sophomore Ashton Dwyer added two points.
The Owls are back to action when they welcome Ursinus College to the Class of 1958 Gymnasium on Thursday, Jan. 31. Tip-off is set for 7:00 pm.
