Badminton Kicks Off Season at Haverford

Shuning Wang and Vera Zhao take on Haverford in November 2018

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Bryn Mawr badminton team kicked off their 2018-19 season earlier Sunday by taking on Haverford College on the road. The Owls put on a strong performance throughout the afternoon, including a big win from Blossom Jeong in singles. Unfortunately, Bryn Mawr came up just short in their other matches, ultimately taking a 3-1 loss on the day.

In singles, sophomore Meagan Kearney took a tough loss to Haverford's team captain Cecilia Z, with the scores of 2-21 and 2-21. Junior Blossom Jeong secured the Owls' sole win of the day, with the score of 21-14 and 21-12 against Haverford's Crystal L.

In doubles, juniors Chris Pathmanabhan and Charmaine Leow put up a strong fight against Haverford's Cecilia Z and Chris G, but fell in the last moment with the score of 13-21 and 9-21. Junior Shuning Wang and sophomore Vera Zhao played a very close match against Haverford's Mickey D and Cody H, coming up just four points short in the second set, but they ultimately suffered defeat with scores of 16-21 and 17-21.
