Badminton Opens Season With Win Over Haverford

BRYN MAWR, Pa. - The Bryn Mawr badminton team got their 2017-18 campaign underway last Thursday at home, as the Owls faced off against Haverford in the season-opener. With four matches in progress on the night, it was Bryn Mawr who came away victorious by taking a 3-1 decision at the end of the night.

Koko Zhang fought hard against Cecilia from Haverford, and it was a tough game for them, as Cecilia was Haverford's top player. Meagan and Ruby, both freshmen competing in their first varsity badminton matches, did superbly in their very first games. Ruby dominated her game, not giving one set to her opponent. Meagan played three full sets, and it was a very intense and close match, but she persevered in the end to secure her win. In doubles, Cindy Chen and Blossom Jeong also dominated the match against Haverford's Fiona and Miki, not giving one set to the opponents.
 
The Owls will be back in action at home on November 30th, when they will take on Swarthmore at 7:00 PM in the Class of 1958 Gymnasium.
