BRYN MAWR, Pa. - The Bryn Mawr College rowing team has been impressive all spring, and after a big win in last weekend's Kerr Cup Regatta, the rest of the nation is starting to take notice. The Owls have received nine votes in the US Rowing/CRCA Coaches Poll this week, the most of any program not in the top 15. Full poll results can be found here.
Bryn Mawr started hot this spring with a bronze medal at the Murphy Cup Regatta to open their season. After just missing out on the podium with a fourth place finish at the Knecht Cup Regatta, the Owls stormed past the opposition at last weekend's Kerr Cup. The varsity four and varsity eight boats each won their initial heats easily. The varsity four would go on to take second in their final, and the eight pulled off a big victory in the DIII Varsity Eight Grand Final at the event, winning by over eight seconds. At that event, Bryn Mawr beat out some pretty stiff competition, including boats from 13th-ranked Washington College and 15th-ranked Franklin & Marshall.
The Owls will look to have that positive momentum continue as they enter crunch time this season. Bryn Mawr's next regatta is a big one, as they will take part in the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) Championship Regatta on Saturday, April 29th. That event will take place at Gifford Pinchot State Park in Lewisberry, Pennsylvania.
