BRYN MAWR, Pa. - Bryn Mawr senior Mary Cugini has earned PhiladelphiaFieldHockey.com Offensive Player of the Week honors this week after her peformance in the Owls' historic win over Gettysburg. Cugini is joined by Swarthmore's Heide Van Voorhis and Arcadia's Michaela Ferlow as the Division III honorees in this week's release.
Bryn Mawr made history against Gettysburg last Friday thanks to a game-winning goal in the second overtime by Cugini. The senior took a pass going left to right at the top of the circle and fired a shot back across her body that found the back of the cage. The goal came with 39 seconds left on the clock and gave Bryn Mawr a 3-2 win in the contest, the Owls' first time ever beating Gettysburg.
Cugini becomes the second Owls player to earn Player of the Week honors, as Maggie Titus raked in Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week accolades earlier this week.
The Owls return to the field tonight against Muhlenberg up in Allentown. That key matchup between two Centennial Conference programs battling for postseason positioning is set to tip off at 7:30 PM.
