CARLISLE, Pa. - The Bryn Mawr field hockey team took on Dickinson College earlier Saturday afternoon in central Pennsylvania. It was a close first half of action, with Bailey Turner netting a goal for the Owls. However, Dickinson pulled away with four goals in the second half to claim a 6-1 win.
The Red Devils jumped out in front with a goal 9:07 into the contest, then doubled their lead just six minutes later. Bryn Mawr did not get discouraged by that early setback, though, as the Owls took a quick timeout and then looked to strike back. Bryn Mawr dominated the next fifteen minutes of action, earning three penalty corners and taking two shots in that stretch. They tallied a third in the 30th minute, and it was on that chance that Bryn Mawr would cut into the Dickinson lead. Ryann McManus sent a pass to Bailey Turner, and the first-year forward put a shot into the cage to make it a one-goal game.
Unfortunately, the second half would be unkind for the Owls. Dickinson regrouped during the halftime break and came out and scored four goals in the second half. Bryn Mawr has a couple chances to respond, but those efforts were unsuccessful, and Dickinson ultimately claimed a 6-1 win.
The Owls will be back in action on Thursday for their final non-conference tilt of the year. Bryn Mawr will travel east to take on Drew, with game time on the 18th set for 4:30 PM.
