F&M Defeats Field Hockey 2-0

LANCASTER, Pa. – The top-ranked Franklin & Marshall Diplomats scored one goal in each half to down the Owls 2-0 in Centennial Conference action Thursday afternoon.

In the opening minute of the game, Katie Cecere tipped a shot from Maria Guarisco to beat Bryn Mawr's goalie, senior Faith Westdorp, to give the conference's top team and early 1-0 lead.

The Owls played catch-up the remainder of the first-half but were unable to register any shots. The Dips took the 1-0 lead into the half.

In the second, Juliet Dalton scored on a scrum in front of the net to give F&M the 2-0 lead. Both team battled the remaining thirty minutes of the game but it was Franklin & Marshall who picked-up the win en route to their seventh win of the season and third in the conference.

For the Owls, junior Holly Constants and sophomore Kayla Bixler took two shots each. Freshman classmates Cassandra Garcia-Bacha and Haley Newsham took one each. Westdorp posted 11 saves between the pipes.

The Owls are off until they host the Muhlenberg Mules on Wednesday, October 2. Game time is set for 4:30 pm.
