Bixler Earns Scholar of Distinction Accolades from NFHCA
CHANDLER, Ariz. – Freshman Kayla Bixler has been honored by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) as a 2012 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division III Scholar of Distinction.
To earn the distinctive recognition as a Scholar of Distinction, a student-athlete must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2012-13 academic year. This is the first year that the NFHCA has awarded the Scholar of Distinction award. In its first year, the Scholar of Distinction honored 140 players from across Division III.
In addition to her success in the classroom, Bixler was third on the team with goals (5), assists (3) and points (13). She tallied one game-winning goal against Notre Dame University of Maryland and a pair of defensive saves. Bixler also earned 2nd Team All-Centennial Conference honors.
