Hopkins Tops Field Hockey in Centennial Action

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Bryn Mawr College field hockey team fell to host Johns Hopkins 10-0 Saturday afternoon on Homewood Field in Centennial Conference action.

The Blue Jays took the lead in the 14th minute when Maddie Fryer scored following a JHU timeout. After nearly 10 minutes of scoreless action, Hopkins scored three goals over a span of four minutes to push their lead to 4-0.

Right before the end of the opening half, Hopkins' Maggie Phillips gave the Blue Jays their fifth goal of the game.

Coming out of the half, Hopkins added back-to-back goals from Meghan Kellet and Liane Tellier in the 37th and 41st minute, respectively. Tellier added her second goal of the game seven minutes later to push the Jays' lead to 8-0.

JHU tacked on two more goals to earn their seventh win of the season.

Freshman Kayla Bixler and sophomore Mikah Farbo led the Owls with two shots each while sophomores Madison Beckmann and Ashley Arbuckle all added one shot each. Starting in the cage for Bryn Mawr and positing six saves was freshman Alex Weinfeld while junior back-up Faith Westdorp turned away four.

Bryn Mawr returns to the field when they travel to Swarthmore for a 4:00 pm showdown on Wednesday, Oct. 24.
