CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College used a two-goal first-half en route to a 5-0 win over visiting Bryn Mawr as the Owls opened Centennial Conference play Wednesday afternoon.
The Shorewomen got on the board in the third minute of action when Claire McAuliffe scored following on a rebound save that came off the pad of junior goalie Faith Westdorp (pictured). Washington added another goal three minutes later on a Bryn Mawr own goal.
The Owls held Washington scoreless the remaining 29 minutes of the half. Bryn Mawr registered four shots, two by sophomore Madison Beckmann while freshman Kayla Bixler and sophomore Mikah Farbo tallied the other two.
In the second, Washington picked-up their third goal of the in the second minute from Gabby Tarbert. McAuliffe and Kristen Wille each added another goal for the Shorewomen as they picked-up their second conference win of the season.
Westdorp posted 16 saves on 21 shots while Beckmann led the offense with four shots on the day.
Bryn Mawr is back to action on Saturday, Sept. 22, when they host McDaniel College at 3:00 pm for Fan Appreciation Day.
