BRYN MAWR, Pa. - Back in the fall of 2016, the Bryn Mawr Athletics Department had a vision where Bryn Mawr student-athletes were not only excelling in their sport, they were rising to be leaders on their teams, the College campus, and beyond. With the goal of helping make that vision a reality, the Department needed a formalized, in-house program to train student-athletes and prepare them to be leaders. Over the past seven months, through a series of planning sessions nights spent brainstorming, the LAMP was lit.
The Leadership Academy and Mentoring Program (LAMP) has been specifically designed for Bryn Mawr College student-athletes. Like the iconic Bryn Mawr College lantern that lights the way for exploration and growth, LAMP is designed to provide our athletes ongoing and customized learning opportunities to explore core values vital to effective leadership. These values, or "beams" emanating from the LAMP, include Communication, Grit, Confidence, Commitment, Integrity, Inspiration, and Accountability.
LAMP members will attend a series of interactive training session throughout each semester. As participants grow through LAMP, they will be able to affect immediate positive change in their own behavior, as well as the attitude of their respective teams.
