Bryn Mawr, Pa. - The Bryn Mawr Athletics department, in its year-long effort to assist in the battle against breast cancer, has announced its spring sports "Owls Fight for a Cure - Pink Week".
Thus far this school year, the department has already helped raise over 1,400 dollars to go towards breast cancer research and the Bryn Mawr Hospital Comprehensive Breast Center. Next week, March 23rd to 28th, is the last big push by the department to raise awareness and money through the spring sports. All of the spring squads will be participating in "pink-outs", and will be wearing some sort of pink gear such as sweatbands or shoelaces during their games, regattas, and other competitions. The major events are listed below:
- Wednesday, March 25th @ 4:30 PM - Lacrosse game against Swarthmore (Applebee Field)
- Thursday, March 26th @ 4:00 PM - Tennis match against Goucher (Bryn Mawr tennis courts)
- Friday/Saturday, March 27/28th - Outdoor Track and Field at the Dan Curran Invitational at Widener University
- Saturday, March 28th - Rowing at the Murphy Cup Regatta in Mercer, New Jersey
There will be donation jars at both home events (lacrosse and tennis), as well as in Uncommon Grounds and the fitness center desk all week! If anyone would like to add a pink ribbon to honor a current cancer fighter and/or survivor to the wall of ribbons in the Schwartz Athletic and Fitness Center, or for any other questions about the "Owls Fight for a Cure" program, contact Coach Becky Tyler at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Lastly, we invite all students, faculty, and staff to attend the games next week and wear their pink to help us continue to raise awareness as they cheer on the Owls!
